Hypo-E from Black Male

Jlassiter Apr 15, 2012 09:40 PM

This Hypo-E Mex Mex is from a Black Male and a Hypo-E female....
This guy shows that the gene is acting Co dominant.....

I hope he turns black too....I know he will be pink soon.....

That's cool. So, the only way you can tell if you are going to have a hypoE black phase is by raising them? Can't tell out of the egg?

I think I can tell if they are going to Hypo-E but I have yet to find a way to tell if they are going to be Black........
Since Black phase is a wild line bred morph there are many that are less black...we call them dark phase...... I think I need to line breed the black into his progeny in the future......then we'll have a black mex mex with pink saddles........

Interesting. Are you the only one going for this look right now?

The only one I know of.....
There aren't many Hypo-Es out there......
And the ones that are out there are being bred to each other to produce more......

So the red will get lighter and the gray will get darker? I really like the sound of a black or almost black mex-mex with pink saddles.

I know on this one the red will lighten to pink but I really can't tell if the gray will darken to black like his father.....
This guy proved that the Hypo-E gene is codominant.....

And yes....A black mex mex with pink saddles, speckles or even stripes will be killer....

That snake will look sweet, regardless of how dark he gets, but I know what your aiming for.

Thanks Jorge....I am thinking he will at least look as good as my adult male...Getting dark will be a plus though.....
