I'm trying to....

Rainshadow Apr 19, 2012 07:42 AM

Wrap my head around some of the bull snake morphs,it is my understanding that with bulls,a "ghost" is actually a double expressive "hypo/whitesided" rather than a "hypo/axanthic"(?) has the standard form of hypo(not the "golden"strain) been bred to reds to produce reddish versions of this strain? I have recently started building a small group, and I'm just trying to educate myself, and decide which way to take some of these potential projects. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light.

there are two types of ghost, both double recessive:

hypo X white side= ghost

hypo X axanthic= true ghost

there are hypo reds out there but they are not called ghost to my knowledge.

Thanks for the input, (the part about red hypos was a separate thought actually.) what is it that constitutes an "ivory" if hypo/whitesided is marketed as "ghost"? (sorry for all the "hair-splitting", but I haven't been able to find a site that addresses genetic combinations / explainations in the same way it's represented in other taxa.) I appreciate you taking the time to respond !
