OT- But carpet forum is dead

bigbearhook Apr 19, 2012 08:43 AM

So i have a little problem. 3 years ago i bought a male and female pair of carpet pythons. I sexed them both myself. The "pretty" one sexed male and the "ugly" one sexed female. The pretty one was given to a friend out of state while i kept the female for myself. 2 years ago, i bought a really nice male jungle carpet to breed with my girl. This year they were both up to breeding size and i put them together. They checked each other out and them the female proceeded to wrap herself around the male over and over and tried to pin him against the cage. He seemed to be panicking to get away so i took him out. Looked like combat but the "female" was sexed by both me and the original owner.
My question is-
Do females ever combat or display this type of behavior?
Please respond if you have experience with carpets.

I have a bit of experience with carpets but have not seen what you have described with them.

I have seen a female ball python do this but she also never bred and i placed her in a pet home. I recommend contacting Anthony Caponetto. acreptiles.com
