Albino Yearling not eatting what to do

atwood1184 Apr 23, 2012 09:13 AM

i know a snake can go awhile without out eating but i have an albino ball python i just got coming up on 3 weeks ago and he has not eaten at all i have tried feeding him live, dead, stunned, small all different types of ways and he just will not eat. The guy i got him off said he ate every week with no problem and me being so smart didn't ask him to feed him so i could see that he was eating. Well i need some ideas on how to get him to eat he shows interest and then just leaves it alone i know he is need of eating cause he has gotten skinny since i got him. So if anyone has any ideas it would really help.

Less than 3 weeks ago, are you kiddin' me? Welcome to the wonderful world of Ball Pythons! It sounds like you're aggitating him at this point! Leave him alone for a week, then try whatever prey item the seller told you he ate! Try it at night! The first Mojave I bought, didn't eat for 10 months after I got him! Relax!

There are MANY reasons Ball Pythons will not eat. How big is its cage? Does it have a hide box? If cage is to big you can put muliple hides? What are the temps? It could be to hot or to cold. Make sure they prey is not to big. I would make sure that you have everything set up correctly. After that I would not handle it until it gets comfortable and starts eating for you.
Good Luck,

If he has gotten skinny in three weeks then there might be something else....they loose weight very very slowly...I have males that have gone months (5 to 6) and barely loose 100 grams...stop messing with him...stop offering food and stop watching him trying to eat...give him time to settle, relax then offer food. If he acting interested hes hungry but doesnt like something.
