Thanks

You need an AC to 12 volt DC converter. Check the volts on old rechargeable drill adapters etc. you might have lying around. I put mine at the end of a pvc pipe that pulls air from the top corner to the bottom of my incubator where I have my heat source.
NOTE, the direction of spin will depend on how you wire it to the DC side. If your fan blades are curved make sure it's spinning in a way that would retract rather than extend the blades. If not, reverse the wires. If spinning the wrong way over time the fan blades will extend and rub the housing and then the fan will burn up.

you mean the charger? and wire the fan to the charger?
I forgot about the fancy ones where the battery comes out to charge or you set in a charger stand.
I only every owned the really cheap ones where the plug it's self was an AC/DC converter and from the label I could see 12 volts and then it plugged into the handle of the drill/screwdriver where the battery was permanently built in. Of course those only worked once or twice and then I ended up with extra converters.
Don't know how the separate charger ones work but probably wouldn't work for this as the only cords you could cut might be on the 120 volt side. You could go down to Radio Shack and actually buy an AC/DC 12 volt converter if you can’t find one to recycle but where’s the fun in that.

I found a clearance tablet charger, it was 12 volts. I just clipped off the end, it works great. It's barely warm on 24/7 .

Make sure whatever dc converter you find laying around has a high enough Ma rating to run the fan without heating up.
If your converter is rated at say 300Ma (300 milliamp),then it is rated for twice what the average pc requires(150Ma for case fans).
I myself run two fans and use two converters, independent of each other..One is rated at 300Ma and the other is 450Ma,and they stay quite cool to the touch.
Should you find a converter that runs high enough Ma but is only 9 volt? Then the fan will just turn slower,as voltage decides fan speed.
