male going BANANAS!!! HELP!!

geckoluver101 Oct 04, 2003 02:14 PM

I have two females and 1 male well about a week ago Apollo really started to bug my females trying to mate and stuff like that. Well one of my females is big enough to breed and the othere is not so i decided to put him in a different tank until breeding season. I just now put him in the other tank and he went bananas! He ran from one side to the other and almost hung himself on the hammock!! I put him in his hide to see if that would calm him down it did a little but he's still going crazy. What can i do?!? He went from a big cage to a small one is that why he's so upset??? Please reply, Katie

Is he still in the same room as the females? My male did something like that after I blocked him form tring to get with some females. I put him in a 10gal tank and left him a lone where there is no traffic around his cage and so on. If he is use to having cage mates and being in a bigger tank it will take some time for him to get use to being in a smaller area. Just dont bug him to much and leave him be. Try to make it so its darker and more comfortable for him. It will take him some time. Just like we have to adjust after a move. I know males can smell the fermoune (sp?) from the females. So he might still be wanting to breed because he smells them. Try to put in another room form the females.
Hope that helps.
