Looks fantastic! That was actually one of the new tubs I was drwan to. How are the shelves constructed and what did you use for support?

CaseyWagner Apr 29, 2012 09:34 PM

Thanx....
the shelves r interior doors from lowes..30 x 80 inches...four 2x4s at each corner...lawan(spelling?) ... ya know subflooring is what i used for the sides and back...each shelf(door) has its own flexwatt and cord so when i move i just unplug each shelf ...then take a few screw out ....and done

oh ...and the doors i picked up didnt have the holes in it for the handle....made for a cleaner look....25 bucks a door x 9 doors gave me my 8 levels and 32 bins....it cost me a chunk for the bins cause i wanted mostly clear...like 12 a peice...my wife wanted to order em from home depo off their site for 7.50 a peice but they wer green tub...so big diff. just to have clear tubs

Nice looking rack, how did you achieve the placement of each door the tub height plus 1/8 " ?

CaseyWagner May 03, 2012 01:07 PM

I cut four 2x4 blocks at 5 15/16" exact as spacers..I tried building it upsidedown like most people starting with the top shelf. Doing this myself i got 3 shelves on and realised it wasnt working as far as square and such. so ripped it back apart and figured out where i would have enough room for each opening and shelf width and did it from bottom up. I did end up with 1 1/2" overhang on top but no biggy to me.The lawan backer is three peices so i put the 2 end peices on after the first shelf screwing it on the 2x4 uprite and along the first shelf.Helped to keep it square all the way up. put the 4 blocks i cut at each 2x4 corner and layed the next shelf on and screwed shelf in place. then so the back never sags i used the blocks along the 2 side back panes and screwed them in.

sorry its alittle long,

Casey

oh and forgot to say cost...just the wood was 350...yup thats all wood including doors at 25 a peice. I figure with everything including the tub , wood , thermstat, tape, screws and whatever..it cost me about $600...maybe a little more or less... but for a 32 tub....41 qt...i was pricing that out at to buy and just couldnt afford at least $2800
