Canadian ant supply?

Shauntar Oct 04, 2003 02:37 PM

Hello, I am thinking of keeping a desert horned lizard. Can anyone reccomend a harvest ant supplier that is located in/ships to Canada? As far as I can tell, the horned lizards at the pet store are being fed almost entirely off of crickets. Thanks!

I dont have a clue about shipping into Canada, but i susepct it is probably not an issue, but it would be best to check. Shipping out of california should not be an issue at all unless you were shipping a protected species. Ca is most concerned with material coming in.

Thanks Gordon, Forgive my ignorance but are there actually protected ant species?

Actually at the moment no, there is one which is of special concern. Proceratium californicum, it is a rare Subterranean species, actually it is probably fairly common but just rarely collected. There was some talk about trying to get Pogonomyrmex anzensis listed but that fortunately went no where.
