I have a few Qs
How can you tell when your female is ready? I know the male is.
How can you tell a female that wants to be bred vs one that does not?
any other advice would be wonderful!

Adam-
Now assuming the pair is of breeding age. When a female is ready to breed she will be excepting of a male near her. Her colors will not darken and she will not hiss/gape or rock side to side. A female who is gravid will darken her colors, hiss/gape, and rock back and forth when a male comes near her. You will also notice gravid females will bask more often for longer periods of time. Also gravid females will increase there appetite and eat like little pigs, there food intake will slow as birth comes near. Keep supplements to a minimal, or you will encounter eye problems. There are a few people on the forum who are currently breeding Jackson's and can offer more input. Where did you or are you getting the Jacksons from for breeding? Hope this helps!

Thats for the quick reply.
I got one from a local pet store. That is the male.
the other I got from Reptayls. it is a red female is a fresh bloodstrain here in the mainland.
I put them together earlier to see what would happen.
The male saw her and immediately turned the greenest he ever has. Started jerking his head alot and bobbing it..not smoothly though...almost loooked robotic.
He wasted NO time walking over to her. she saw him..gaped..and then started to walk away. she darkened up. I let it continue for a moment to see what she would do next..She started to walk away from him, but he started grabbing her by the tail and holding on as she dragged him around. then she turned around and used her "hand" to hold him back..thats when I broke it up.
She did not sway back and forth at all and gaped only once. Im not sure if she was ready or not. I dont want to stress her - so I put her back in her cage..turned on her dripper and threw in some food.
How do you know if she is not old enough. being an import we are not sure of her age.
She does eat about twice as much as the male. I have never seen her turn down food. So now I wonder if she may be gravid from before...
I still lightly suppliment their foods once every 10 days.
again - thanks

It sounds like she is already gravid, they don't waste much time after they have babies. Also they store sperm. Odds are she is already gravid. She should be as big or bigger than him if he is old enough to breed, how old is he? Post pictures if you can.
