Air purifiers in reptile rooms

Warren_Booth May 01, 2012 10:41 AM

Folks, here is a random question.

Do any of you use air purifiers in your reptile room? Every snake room I have been in, no matter how clean the cages are, always has a slight odor. Its nothing overpowering, in fact, its no worse than most dog or cat odors in houses with pets. So, with that said, do any of you use air purifiers to freshen the air.

There was a pretty large discussion about this a few years ago.

Several people spoke up about a specific Air Purifier they use.

I can't recall what that specific Air Purifier is/was but some one
should be able to join in on this topic !

I have a little air purifier in my room.
Seems to help quite a bit along with fresh aspen tho the filter needs to be changed often.

Several years ago I remember a guy who set up "negative ion" type air cleaners. He had a huge problem and lost a pile of animals because it caused an imbalance of some sort from the norm. I don't remember the specifics at all. I'd just suggest you find out of that is any sort of danger.

Aspen bedding hold the smells down a lot. That's my air cleaner .

I get an almond smell when I first walk in the house in the afternoon...then it goes away (I acclimate)....with defecation, a good cleaning fixes that. That's just me. I'm sure the boas love their own smell. Ventilation in the summer works great as well.

My wife and landlord act as though there is a dead body under the floor boards so this is also something I am eager to resolve.

For now, when people are expected over, I close the door and Frebreez and remind them, I have animals and deal with it.
