Black King vs Copperhead

Phil Peak May 01, 2012 01:20 PM

Thought some of you guys may find this photo interesting. While in the field last year we were fortunate to come upon this scene on a remote country road here in Kentucky.I have always been fascinated by kingsnakes and this served to confirm in my mind why these snakes are so awesome!

Hope you enjoyed!

Phil

Beautiful shot, Phil. Thanks for sharing. The kingsnake looks so nonchalant (well, when they can't blink and have no facial muscles, that's easy) almost as if to say "Yeah, I killed it. Now excuse me why I eat this thing . . .".

That is awesome, Phil. What a find!

Aside from being a part of blackkingsnake.com I also have a section on black kingsnakes on my personel web site on Kentucky Snakes,

http://kentuckysnakes.shutterfly.com/pictures/25

There is a fairly extensive image gallery there that I update often.

btw..I am not a collector or breeder of kingsnakes. These days my interest in these animals is primarily with field observations and photography.

Thanks again, Phil

Man, the photography and specimen are just fabulous, as is all the rest of your work.

Still working with those Dave. Not sure if the old girl will go this year or not but some of the younger ones may well be ready for next year.

Thanks Doug. I may hang out a spell once the spring is done and things slow down a bit. I always enjoy dropping by and seeing what all you good folks are up to.
