buzzing sound comming from flexwatt

CaseyWagner May 02, 2012 01:24 PM

Question is do any of you get a buzzing noise from your flexwatt? I have a plug for each shelf. well last night i wired up another shelf with brand new flexwatt and plugged it in and noticed a buzzing sound comming from the heat tape. Then i listened closely and the other levels do it to just not as loud as this shelf. Now, I'm running a helix with a johnson A419 in line to back it up. I un plugged the shelf and plugged it into the a419 in a wide open position and no buzzing. So anyone know if this is normal or not. Something to worry about?

Thanks,
Casey

PS.. Oh and the connections to the cords r good...they r soldered on...did a pull test on each

I remember reading somewhere that it is the proportional setting combined with aluminum tape....So if you switch the t-stat to on-off mode instead it should cease.

It is hard to imagine that flexwatt could buzz with lower voltage. Never can tell.

Mike, while I would love to answer your question and i do understand what was told to me. The way I articulate whats in my mind to words would most likely leave you with more questions than answers.....lol...

OK, I'll ask him the next time I see him at a show. I assume there was nothing wrong.
