You gotta take the good with the bad in this hobby..... The odds were not in my favor, mostly slugs, but I did get an arabesque het T-positive, so it's hard to be completely heartbroken.... Not only does it have a killer arabesque pattern, but it's a boy too! =)

Only got 3 live babies, 2 premies, 19 slugs, and 1 live with a horrible kink, and a growth on it's neck where it appears the spine is outside of the body. It's hard and feels like bone, poor lil guy. He was cool looking too!

It's not a total loss, but still stings a bit.... Dad was a hypo arabesque so I was really hoping for that Hypo arabesque het VPI. Maybe next time.

Still, it's really nice to see the arabesque getting into the T positive line.
Plus, you're right, he's a male, too.

Wow Tony, you are so lucky it went that close to term and gave you any live babies at all with that many slugs.

I just said this about another litter , in my experience when slug ratio is higher than baby. . . . . . . . .

The Boa litters with those high slug counts often drop very early ( Often 10-14 days early) therefore giving you preemie type babies.

or

by the time some / many people find them the babies appear as still born.

So consider yourself lucky for beating the odds in that respect !

I have to admit, I'm shocked at the high slug count vs. babies being that she actually went 2 days overdue..... Who knew?
