slugs

Hey...looking for some ideas...what would cause a large number of slugs in multiple females? A few females dropped early with 8-14 slugs lots of still borns. One female dropped a good litter of 44, but others not so good. I cant tie one thing to each litter that would cause this...bad luck? Theyre kept in boaphiles and the temps are good. Has anybody else experienced this?
