Super Orangetail Harlequin VPI Sunglow!

NUCCIZ_BOAS May 16, 2012 03:12 PM

Sorry Jeff, I have to throw this out there.... 21 babies, NO SLUGS! My first perfect litter (if you don't count the one premie in a sack that won't make it). The odds weren't the greatest, 2 sunglows, 1 t-positive. But i'll take it! =)

For months I have been predicting that these glow in the dark.... I was wrong.... =( but you'd never know by looking at some of these hypos. Theyre insane colorful!

In the goo! Day 106 POS:

My money is on this one being a super. But even better, look at the hypo wrapped around it.... It has some KILLER red on the sides which you cant quite see in the picture. Im praying it's a female so I can keep it!

Look at how clean these are..... I cannot wait to see them as adults, or even next week when they shed! Hard to believe they don't glow in the dark.... lol

Thanks,
Tony

I never even took a picture of the T-positive. I was so fascinated at the hypos that I overlooked the T-positive when I had the camera out! lol

Plus I was in a hurry to get them in the rack and into the heat, some of them have yolk bellies. I will get a pic for you in the near future!

This is the first time I have heard anything about there being harlequin bloodline in either of the parents. Were you keeping a secret from us? So whats the history of the parents and how much harlequin blood to they carry?

It caught my by surprise actually. When I bought the females originally, I asked the breeder if there was jungle in the blood. He insisted that there was not. But I was skeptical, however, i'm not very good at recognizing jungles, so i took it for what it is and left it alone.

THen the first litter of sunglow motleys was born a few weeks ago, it made me wonder once again if there was jungle in the blood. But I know how hypo can mess with the motley pattern and have inconsistencies, so again I overlooked it.

Finally this litter of OT super sunglow stuff was born, and all of the babies are crazy looking. AGAIN raising my suspicion.

I talked to Josh Ketchum last week, and I guess the females that I own were offered to him as a package deal prior to me buying them. They were offered to him as hypo harlequins. Brad, the breeder of them, apparently was working with harlequin blood.

I showed josh several of the babies, and he agreed that they are harlequin. I will post more pictures when they shed, but some of them are REALLY crazy looking, both in pattern and in color. Too crazy to just be abberant hypos, theres more to it. And after some digging around, I found out it's harlequin, which I'll admit I was unaware of prior to breeding. But it worked out nicely in the end.

I can't wait to see them color up!

Tony
