Rack advice

SteveinIL May 19, 2012 03:13 AM

I have my first 2 girls that are due to lay in the next month and have suspicions I may have another 1 coming not too much later. I'm currently leaning towards another AP rack. I need something with enclosed sides to try to keep as much heat in since I have trouble keeping the room temp over 70 consistently. Besides AP who manufactures a good baby/hatchling rack with enclosed sides and back? Would I be better served finding a smaller rack to hold like 15-20 hatchlings or do I just go ahead and get some where between a 33-39 tub rack? I don't ever intend to go for more than 8-10 clutches in a season if that makes any difference. Also, about how long do you recommend keeping them in the hatchling rack before going to a 15qt? thanks in advance for any responses.

I have been using the Reptile Basics shoebox hatchling rack (http://www.reptilebasics.com/iris-shoe-box-rack-12-or-16-tub-sizes ) and it keeps the heat in well with it's 11 inch back heat. I know they can ship quickly too.

I would highly recommend them!!!

I second that! I've tried them all, and this is the best in my opinion. You will not have any issues with feet getting stuck sa they are all have back heat. You will not be disappointed in their quality and craftsmanship.

I have this rack and 2 4 tub 16qt racks from reptile basics as well. I also have an open ap cb-70 rack. I'm happier with the quality of the ap rack to be honest, but I was much happier with the service and speed of reptile basics myself.

Animal plastics Iris 330 rack! Choose how many tubs you would like to have. Endless option.

I highly recommend them, its all i use. Ali at Ap cages will tell you everything you want to know.

Keep the hatchings in the shoe boxes until they grow out of them.

I use Animal Plastics. They have a rack that can hold a 32 qt Sterilite tub sideways, or two of the 16 quart tubs next to each other. Great for sub-adults and adults at the same time. I have the 10 tier rack so it can take 10/20 animals. Takes a little while for them to deliver but they are easy to put together and good racks.

Did I read that right, you have to assemble the AP racks?

I guess that I why I like the RBI, you get them, take them out of the box and plug it in - the heat is already installed, tubs are in place, and you are ready to go. They also ship now in less than a week after the order is placed and the shipping is included in the price.

Yeah, but assembly is a screwdriver and some screws. Takes no time at all...and is most likely why Animal Plastics makes larger racks than RBI...no costs of assembly.

I currently have the 18 tub 41 quart beast of arack AP doesn't have pictured on their site. I also have a 9 high if the 15/32qt sterilite rack and a custom iris rack. I was hoping to avoid iris tubs. The little feet always get stuck in the groove for the heat tape and have to use 2 hands to lift the tub over the groove. Have any of you noticed that as well?

I don't have that problem with my AP Iris 330 racks.

Hey steve its kyle, You should just go with a AP rack and get the v-18 vision tubs for it you can raise snakes in those tubs till there about 700 grams. It will save money on buying a medium size rack. All you hve to do is order the tubs from vision and tell ap that you want a 45 slot rack and theyll do it for you i think when i inquired it was like 800$
