question about my new 100w flood zoomed powersun mvb

keith_ecko Oct 04, 2003 08:20 PM

I could only get an ideal basking spot temperature with my POWERSUN at 8" away....They say around 12-13" is good but I couldn't get the temps up good enough with that distance...Is this okay and will it harm Thor to keep it that close????????????

If that is the distance you need to get the proper temperature then it will be fine.
usually the 12 to 13 inches means that the animal will get the most out of the light if it is within 12 to 13 inches or less. The farther away the less beneficial.

With the flood lights the distance they state is a minimum distance so you are fine. You only need to worry with the spot mercury vapor bulbs.

You should be fine with that 8" just keep it monitored which you are doing cause the probe is right under it. With glass tanks you have a lot of hot air escaping through the top so the bulb has to be closer to reach the proper temps. Looks good. The dragon should be happy now.
