It's definitely worthy of a contest for Arizona wildlife, no doubt about that!!

If you do, good luck with placing WAY up there with it!

Awesome photo. That would be a life bird for me. Unfortunatly they don't migrate or live anywhere close to.

Poor planning and procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Roadrunners are amazing predators. Screw that cute cartoon one (meep meep!). The prof that taught hte herpetology 401 class I took in college did his doctoral thesis on roadrunners and their diets, and he mentioned it when discussion predators of herps. Holy crap those birds can catch and kill anything.

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.

I'm jealous. Sometime over the next couple of years, during the spring or fall migration I hope to get down to southern texas to bird in the lower Rio Grande basin area for a few days. Hopefully I can add a road runner to my list while I'm down there.
The birding during migration down there is known to be in a class by itself.
Here is a crappy shot of a pileated woodpecker that I took a few weeks back.

Nice picture Randy. Now if that were an ivory-billed . . .
What ever happened with those expeditions into the remote La. swamps, where they were supposedly a few surviving?

Really cool shot Kerby! I guess you had to be quick to get that shot and the camera at hand!

I was actually in the house and heard the roadrunner outside and took the picture from inside the house.

I have 13x OPTICAL zoom.

Yes, I have mounted a few. I stay away from birds, but I mount everything else. This past month I just mounted 3 bobcats, mt. lion, huge elk, mule deer and a 5 foot western diamond back. I stay busy.

The more I look at that bird the more impressed I am. The only quail species near me are Northern Bobwhite and that Gambel's blow them away in appearance.
Oh and thanks for posting species that can't be confused with others. Ha ha
