Cheri S.....about Freddy....

sorry to bring it back up to the top, but i have another important question for you.
First of all, i will not give the parazap just yet, i will probably wait about a month after the albon treatment to start with parazap.
Now my question. I got the probiotics at petsmart today.
But how/when do i give it?
Do i give it already, during the albon treatment or AFTER the treatment is done (in 5 days).
If i give it now, during the treatment....should i give it at the same time then the albon, or albon in the morning, probiotic in the evening?
And for how long should I give the probiotics?
Obviously i don't want to stress Freddy by constantly forcing stuff into his mouth...
So at least i want to do this the right way, and i appreciate all your help, and so does he...
thank you

with no problem, just put a drop on their nose or slightly lower the side lip and place a drop there, do not force open the jaw, they will get a taste of it as their taste sensor are toward the back.

I can only tell you how we have administered it to dragons here, we start the albon and on the second day add the probiotics, giving them three-five drops each day while they are on the ablon and for 5 days after.

Now, there is no scientific study on this, the reason I do it this way is I grew up on a teaching farm that trained Vet students in animal husbandry and I remember that they always said antibiotics enter and start working in an animal's system 24-36 hours after the first dose orally and within a few hours IM (injected) and the antibiotics will continue to work for a week after the last does in their system (traces can still be found in the nail and scales of them a week later)SO... to me it made sense to do it this way since no one else could advise me how. Sorry......as so many things with bearded dragons, its taking other info and just trying it.

With rehabs we take in we often have serious coccidia and parasite problems when they arrive. Since following this routine, we have not had one go off eating or one show up with any side effects or complications later for the last year.

If anyone out there knows different, please add your comments here, I am always willing to listen to others stories and good outcomes........ I just do what seems sensible in most cases, it may not be the best or right, but as long as it seems to work for us and the dragons, thats what I follow.

thank you for your great advice, you don't know how much it means to me.
I will start the probiotics tomorrow and continue them for 5 days till after feeding...
I will let you know how things will progress...
I just found out that the Butterworms i ordered a week ago haven't even shipped yet.....sigh. I was looking forward to feeding him something so good for him.
He is still eating for me....just not as enthusiastic as he should.
But i'm not complaining, hes an awesome little stinker, and I'll do anything to make his life pure bliss.
