I'll call him Popeye!

Here's an eyeless mutation that popped out of my Superconda/Anaconda clutch:

I hope he/it survives and thrives!

Thanks a lot Joe!

You still have the most wonderful of eyeless wonders though, I'm always amazed by pictures of him. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you kindly Jeremy!

No, Popeye is an Anaconda.

When I took the original pictures of him ("it" actually, it's still 75% in the egg, so I have no way of determining it's sex), it was really only peeking it's head out and I couldn't see whether there was any pattern or not. Now today it's come out a bit more and there's definitely pattern there. In one way, I'm a bit relieved as I would have hated to see a Superconda deformed like that. Regardless, I just hope the little guy does alright. I'll try and make an effort to have updates on the little one-eyed wonder!

LOL!!! This is so bizarre! I was trying to keep with your pirate theme and was going to try and say something piratey but I couldn't really think of anything clever to say. I figured there would be some kind of pirate quote generator on the web so I Googled "pirate quotes" and found this web site. After generating a couple of lame quotes, it generated this one which I thought was totally perfect:

Sometimes, life is just so weird and appropriate! You just can't make this stuff up!!!

Thanks a lot Tom! Turns out it's a little female. She finally came out of the egg and despite her scaled over eye, everything else about her looks good, plus she's an Anaconda, so that's kinda cool!

If you want to see something even more awesome, check out Joe Schmidt's completely eyeless hognose (he posted another awesome picture of it replying to this thread).

Thanks again!

That's crazy, one year I had a pueblan milk snake hatch out with no eyes. It somehow drowned in the water bowl within 24 hours of being out of the egg.

Now that really sucks! Snakes aren't always the brightest crayons in the box. : /

Thanks for the comment!
