Hatchling hasn't shed yet?

kdreptiles May 23, 2012 02:02 PM

one of my hatchlings that came out of the egg on the 6th of this month still hasn't had her first shed. All of her siblings have shed and some of them have already been started on f/t. You can tell she's ready to shed but it's not stuck or dry, she just hasn't even started on it yet. I've been keeping the paper towels in the tub nice and damp. How long do I wait before becoming concerned?

Hi I have had this happen several times. It seams that in this case the baby did not absorb his yoke. The first time I waited and it never shed and died. From then on I force feed the baby 2 times a small meal a few days apart. Then the baby will go in to shed and then start eating on his owne... GOOD LUCK

Try feeding it, I've had this happen before. After a few meals it should shed on its own.
