Not as bad as the PetS***T I just went to. They were selling Albino hatchlings, their bodies were literally half the thickness of a standard pencil and they were selling em for 90 dollars! I couldn't even see how internal organs could fit in there. It;s so sad.

I am saying you are wrong about your Petco, all stores are different...but I was pleasantly surprised about the one here...The guy specialized in herps for over 14 years and all the Leo's were very well taken care of.

However, the PetS**rt here has tons of babies and they do not take care of them properly. They leave the crickets in with them, and their tails are all shriveled up. Their staff is sadly ignorant in the care of these wonderful animals.

I have had no problem in telling the stores what they are lacking in care...and I urge you to say something to them...or call your local humane society, or game and wildlife foundations.

Yes sadly people do not take care of leos. I have had a pair for about 2 years now, I'm a novice I know. Since getting back from Afghanistan though I have caught the bug, I have aquired another pair and will have another pair by next week. I love em and so do my wife and kids.
I always go into pet stores, to check out the various setups and the animals. Walked into a local store the other day and went to see the leos. 3 were dead, 1 looked like it had died shedding. All had no tails, they had been bitten off 2 were about to die and the biggest was looking sickly. All of these were in a 10 gal aquarium. I lit the store keeper up, such abuse just disgusted me. I called the humane society, hopefully they will shut them down. The leos were clearly starving, and the sad thing about all of this is there was a bin full of crickets not more than 3 feet away.

how you feel. It makes you mad to see such awsome animals being neglected like that. Luckily the store by my house has come around a bit and take reasonable care (keeping in mind its a pet store) of their reptiles. They have the babies on sand, but thats not too bad, atleast they feed them.

Yeah, Petco is a retarded store. I was in one last week, and one of their house geckos got out of its cage and was running around on the wall. I told one of the employees and he said "Oh they get out all the time so we just get more." I wanted to kick him. I was in another Petco today, in a totally different town, and two of their three chinese water dragons were dead in their cage. Have you heard about the animal cruelty lawsuit being file in San Fran against Petco? It sounds pretty damn disgusting.
