Hello All
Could you please explain to me what a VPI T is? How it works? Is it recessive ? Thanks for the help, John.
VPI T-Positive is a recessive gene made popular by Dave and Tracy Barker at VPI (hence the name).
I can best explain it as an incomplete albino. By looking at a t-positive boa, it is clearly lighter and resembles an albino when compared to a normal wild type boa. However..... It is not a complete albino, which becomes obvious when compared to a kahl or sharp strain albino, because there is still some black pigment due to the presence of the gene tyrosinase, which is where the name T-positive comes from.
Basically, a t-positive is an incomplete albino that is stuck in the middle of being normal and albino. It is clearly reduced in color from normal boas, but not as extreme as a typical albino.
I hope this helps?
Tony
