Amealco aberrant ruthveni clutch

KcTrader May 27, 2012 11:57 AM

Here's another nice 9 egg clutch from my het amel stripe line Amealco ruthveni. She laid 9 last year also and proved her and the male out last year as well. Looking forward to see if I can finally get some amel stripes.

Here she is last year in the nest box.

And one of last years hold backs

That is a very cool project. It will be nice to see what hatches.

It is and not many work with it. Last year this was the last one to hatch for the season. I hope there are more of these in my future.

Nice Jimmy! Good luck with that project!

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

I like ruthveni. They have the colors of a mountain king and the build of a getula(sort of).

Aaron, kind does look that way. I know my ruthveni have the appetite of a getula for sure. Most of my males are as big as my 3 yr old cal king. They eat med to large mice. Females same way, but just med mice.

Poor planning and procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Yea, me too. You know what's funny is the other striped female I have did the same thing as last year also. Finally bred when this one laid eggs. Last year she laid 4 eggs so I am hoping this year she does a little better. I am rotating both males out with her this year though, where last year I through the male in one time and that was it. We'll see in about 30 days I hope....
