First clutch!!!!

H_nasicus May 31, 2012 02:23 AM

Sure, there aren't many of them, and all but one look pretty bad, but hey, we finally got eggs!!

Anyone ever deal with the spotted eggs before? With the yellow and white? Also, two of the slug-like eggs have pink dots on the sides (might be visible in pic, if not I will add more pics later) anyone know what the deal is?

All the eggs are in the incubator and we're keeping a close eye on the female in case she isn't done laying yet.

The only one that looks promising to me is the bottom left egg. Not too sure about the white ones with spots as I've not encountered that in any of my clutches, but I wouldn't hold my breath on those. The best you can do is to candle them in 4-5 days and see if you have any vein development. You can usually candle within a day or two, but I've seen in some of my eggs that they can take a little longer. Either way, incubate them and see what happens and immediately discard eggs that are without a doubt infertile/dead.

Good luck, I hope you get at least one baby out of it!

Thanks! Me too. Will hopefully get another clutch in a week or so from our other female, which should increase our chances of getting at least one baby.

You can go ahead and toss the 3 yellow eggs at the top of your pic... and, in my opinion the 3 spotted eggs are also bad, but you can wait and see for yourself...

Good luck with the one good egg!

All but one will most likely look like Santas beard in a week or so. At least you have one seemingly good egg. What substrate are you using to incubate the eggs?

Vermiculite
