I can remember when my smooth front wouldn't bask at all, eat if he saw me there. Now he's over two feet long and won't think twice about taking food from tongs right in the middle of the day. He even comes out to bask under his heat lamp. He is still a bit skittish though. To much commotion while he's basking and he's back under the water.
It's great to see how trusting of you and more sure of themselves shy animals get as they grow.
