quick but urgent question

fcwegnm0 Oct 04, 2003 11:59 PM

oct 5th is the 53rd day of my first clutch.. still no babies.. but thats not my concern.

i have the egg in a relatively small container.. its airtight.. when the baby hatches im worried that it will suffocate.. im unable to check the eggs often enough... between school and work im gone for more than 12 hours a day..

so i figured i should just open up the container and let the gecko have wander around the incubator until i find it.. its a hovabator so there should be enough air... but the egg might dry out in these next 2 days or so.. so i figure i should put a small dish of water in there too....

does this all sound good? im curious to see how other people do this.. dave

I keep mine in no-hole containers and they've been fine.. I've woken up to see babies staring back at me. I think you should be fine as long as there's room for the baby(ies) to walk around in and such.. Good luck!

I keep the probe for my thermometer right in the egg container so theres always a little airflow around the hole.

good luck with your eggs!

As long as you at least burp the lid about once a day (to keep the air from becomming stale) you should be fine, but I have seen deli cups with a few (around 3) pinhead size holes around the sides near the top, for some airflow without loosing too much humidity....
