your "firefly?" is indeed a firefly... Lucidota atra.

That Damselfly ( Enallagam boreale) pic is a killer though... common here in Maine but I never get tired of seeing them... it's amazing just how blue the blue is on them!

If you don't mind telling... what camera and lens were you using?

Again very cool... insects are a "secret" weakness of mine... incredible little creatures with colors that sometimes just can't be believed.

Hi Gerry. I had my Canon T2i and Tamron 90mm macro out today.
Thanks for the compliments.

I may need to look into upgrading someday... I still use my Nikon Coolpix 950... an old 3.5 mp but it still serves my basic needs for the most part... I have a newer Fujifilm HS-10... a nice camera itself for the great zoom and macro capabilities... but neither camera has that great a depth of field control needed to take pics such as yours.

Spend money on new cameras or new snakes... you see how easy the choice is?

Man!,...those photos are absolutely killer quality!!

Those are worthy of publication in a National Georaphic!.....excellent stuff for sure.

I've been wanting a new macro lens, and that just makes me want it even more! I agree with Doug saying the are National Geo. worthy. Some of those require a lot of patience to get.
