LEAF FROG QUESTION

sallie_keeper Oct 05, 2003 01:50 AM

I am looking for all the info on the Malaysian Leaf Frog (Megophrys nasuta) as I possibly can.

There is one in a HORRIBLE petshop nearby (completely misslabled as Brazilian eyelash frog), and I am thinking of trying to get it. I want to make sure I can take care of it properly. that and it is not cheap. The petshop wants 50 bucks for it....a lot of money for a pity purchase.. Although it is an awesome looking frog that I would LOVE to have..and even try to breed...

I do have a caresheet on them, but always love more info on the critters I keep. I want more info on it, before I give up money that can be used on other herp rescues..

I can always get the local petco to order a pair for me. I hate to give money to a horrible petshop. It may save this frog, but will only make them get more animals they have no idea how to care for them properly.

Any thoughts??

Basically, if the petstore is terrible I agree with your last paragraph and feel that buying this frog will only support their habits! Try to look for the species elsewhere if that's what you're interested in, and good luck!

I have the same problem. There is a tomato frog they are badly taking care of at a petstore nearby, it doesnt have enough water, or enough room, and it looks unhappy. They want $120 for it. But for all i know it could be sick from being badly taken care of! and they're right, dont want to support them!
