i can't figure it out

XdragonX Oct 05, 2003 02:55 AM

the other day i bought some minnows and put them in the tank with my caiman. when i woke up i found them all dead and the tank all cloudy. i'm pretty sure the fish died because the water was too warm but the problem now is the water. i waited a day or so to see what would happen and by the next morning the water was VERY cloudy and STICKED like crazy. what i did then was empty out all the water and sterilize the wood. then i filled the tank back up with spring water and by the end of that day the water was cloudy again but had lost most of the smell. it didn't smell that bad but i noticed it was bothering my caimans eyes. from what i gathered it's an amonia problem but i'm really not sure. if anyone knows what it's from and how to help i would greatly appreciate their help.
thank you

Cloudy stuff is usually going to be bacteria, which can indicate an ammonia problem.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
