Some of you rainbow enthusiasts here may remember Tim Frazier's high yellow male BRB back in 2006. I obtained a pair from the one and only litter sired by that animal. After raising them up, they produced this guy and several others with his look in a subsequent litter. Here's a pic of him taken at a few weeks old, and one taken today. With each shed he just keeps getting more golden yellow and he has absolutely NO red or orange anywhere! Kind of a pastel look IMO. This year, he was put back with his mom to see what happens. She's due soon! What do you think?

That is pretty awesome!! I may want to try to get some of these. I don't think I have seen one before today.

Very interesting looking BRB and good luck with your upcoming babies.

I also have a "yellow" project going. A very yellow Male came to me on breeding loan. He didn't have a name so I called him "Ol Yeller" and tat stuck. Similar story in that he only produced one litter and was lost by the owner before being able to produce any more offspring. I have a trio of his babies and should be putting them together for 2013.

Ol Yeller:

Very cool seeing the contrast between those two!

Unfortunately this snake has passed away now, but i have two of its siblings breeding at the moment. Fingers crossed..... THIS was the most yellow BRB out there.....

That certainly was yellow alright! I wish you luck breeding the siblings. I've posted this guy before, but this was the grandfather to my animal that Tim Frazier had. According to Tim, he swore it looked exactly like this, it was THAT yellow. I'm hoping breeding my male back to his mom may hit on something like the original. A "higher form"....who knows, really? That's what makes breeding so exciting!
Here's a pic of my male with a sibling at an early age for comparison, and then by himself a year later. As you can see in my original post above, he's changed drastically from any of his earlier pics now that he's matured.

RainbowsByDesign Jun 15, 2012 08:44 AM

To all,

I love this yellow thing going on. If I could be bold and say that I think this looks a little hypo-ish. Not the EBV or DB look but perhaps a new line. I am excited to see what comes from this.

When I first saw the pic of Tim's yellow male, I thought it looked very "hypoish" as well. I'd hoped the offspring might be recessive hets for that trait since they look normal. Their first litter produced the single stand out male pictured in my first post. His black was not reduced in any way. If anything, his striping is noticeably darker than his siblings, almost like war paint lol.
With Colombian BCI, I'm sure you're aware of the effect the "pastel" gene has when combined with other morphs.
That's what I think may possibly be going on with this male. I've produced a total of five animals with this look, from two litters from the same pairing, so there is no doubt in my mind it's genetic. Having put the male back to his mom should give me more insight. At the very least, every baby should be het for his trait and I'm thinking half will be visuals. If there's something even better in the mix, that would be the ultimate in sweet! I'll post the results when the time comes.
Like an idiot, I sold this sibling from the first litter a few years back. Her sides were as blue as I've ever seen. I named her Steel Blue. Looking back, I now wonder if this wasn't the pastel effect going on? She's got to look outrageous today. I've never seen such a diversely colored litter before.

BoidMorphs Jun 15, 2012 06:00 PM

Here's another sibling from that first litter. For ease of reference, I've posted three of them here. Hard to believe they're from the same litter.

waspinator421 Jun 15, 2012 08:54 AM

Ah yes, I remember that one. I was very close to buying him and his siblings a while back. Glad you got him so we can watch the progress. Hopefully it proves out!

I have a female that looks very much like him. I bred her to a similar male and she may be gravid but can't tell for sure yet. Fingers crossed!
