Hi Everyone,

I'm active on the iguana and cyclura loops but new here.

I got my first BP about 9 years ago, but after Hurricane Katrina we were really struggling. My poor Kolbe was living in a 20 gallon tank because his nice custom cage had been destroyed with the rest of the house. My neighbor loved Kolbe and really wanted a snake. His wife didn’t like snakes but loved Kolbe. He kept talking about the cage he would build if he could have a snake. So, knowing it would be best for my boy I told my neighbor that if he built the enclosure he could have Kolbe.

I get to visit Kolbe often, but I’ve really missed having a snake. Recently, this little girl, who I've named Kira, just won my heart. She has such a sweet temperament and I was hoping I'd be able to breed her to Kolbe and have one of his babies. Kolbe's current family does not want to breed him and several people have suggested to me that she might be a snake to dinker with. It's been suggested I breed her to a yellowbelly.

She has a pretty pattern and a lot of yellow. With the heart on her side and "spade" on her head she probably should have had a playing card related name, but with her Star Trek insignia, maybe I should have called her Uhura. Of course, Kira is a Star Trek name too (though I got it from a book called We the Living, not Trek) so I suppose it works.

Her pretty face:

Her "spade" and "heart"

Her head is pretty bright

Close up of her Star Trek insignia:

Her underbelly

"O"s on her back

And is this lighter brown over the darker borwn what is called "blushing"?

Thank you all for your patience. It's been suggested that I try breeding her with a Yellowbelly when she is older so I'm thinking of buying one at Repticon. I'm not sure I know what to look for in a good one though.

Welcome to the forum! I see you have a nice normal ball python by appearance. She might be heterozygous for something...???... Ultimately you won't know until you breed her. Good luck and again, welcome to the forum

Yeah. It's been suggested that I put her with a yellowbelly male. I'm hoping to pick one up at Repticon later this month, but I have lots of time so if I don't see what I want this time I will wait.

Right now I am trying to educate myself on what to look for. I've been reading a lot but I'm still going to have to rely on the honesty of whatever breeder I buy from.
