Health Certificates in Hamburg?

Maryann Oct 05, 2003 09:55 AM

We got a call from a friend who told us he had read on kingsnake that health certificates are now required for the Hamburg show. We found a thread on the herp law forum, but we have not seen any discussion on some of the boards we frequent. We'd hate to drive 1100 miles to find out we were not welcome, or have our animals confiscated. Anyone have any new, or really concrete information on this "problem?"

If you are bringing animals into the State of PA (or OH & KY). You need an "inventory type" Vet. Health Certificate that lists the number of animals catergorized by species (or sub-species) as "Healthy". The certs. are good for 30 days in OH & I heard they were good for 60 (?? - ref. the other thread) in PA. You also need a Hauler's Permit ($50 a year) to drive animals into/through the state of PA. You need a transportation permit ($25 a trip - I think $100/yr.?) to drive animals through KY. They want their cut - its all about the greenbacks. They could care less about the animals. What do they usually do w/ confiscated animals? Kill them....greedy bastards.

you do not need a Hauler's permit if you are only bringing animals you have produced.
