Feeding size of rats?

hotridexx Oct 05, 2003 12:13 PM

Hi,

I have a female ball python that is about 38 inches in lenght and 1.5 inches thick, and I've been currently feeding her large adult mice and rat pups (20-35 grams). My question is: is small rats (50-85 grams) o.k. for her to eat. And what I mean by o.k. is, is the size o.k. where she possily won't regurgitate it?

I'll include a picture.

Thanks everyone,
Geoffrey.

I'm assuming your ball is over 800g by the length of her. At this size, your ball should be eating rats that are 140-175g range. A ball that is 24" long should be eating the sized food your feeding. You are underfeeding your ball. Step up the food.

I agree with mykee. Feed her a sm rat and see if it leaves a lump if not then feed her a bigger rat. Keep on doing this until it leaves a sm lump. MHO
