my frog aint eatin'

rc_racer_007 Oct 05, 2003 12:22 PM

okay i got three new rivers. all three were eating great in the little critter keeper then i put them in the tank. two of them are so fat now they look like they are going to explode. the other hangs on in the brom leaf all day. WHen i put in the food he will hope down snatch up a couple flys and thats eat. im going to put him back in the critter keeper.

but why is he doing this? they arent aggressive, theres more then enough food, he just stays in the brom lead 97% of the day.

Hi,
I've had the same problem with my male tinc. He eats fairly well, but never as much as my female. He isn't skinny, but he doesn't have that "big fat tinc" look. Other than thta he is always healthy and he is just a normal frog. If anyone has any ideas what could be wrong with my tinc, i would love to hear it.
Sorry that i couldn't be of more help to you and i hope your frogs do well.

Maybe they are just like people, some eat more and are bigger than others. I think all my frogs are almost too fat, and have been backing off the feeding a little.

Could just be shy, and if might be better to leave him if so. Just a thought might not be your case, but if it is eating and seems ok weight wise I would leave it. It may get down when you are not watching, and food might come to it also.

well i have seen him snap a few up. yesterday he was on the ground after i dumped some flys in. the other two hoped over started snacking, and the third just watched. i saw he tried to snatch one up, but missed. Im not sure, im going to put him in the critter keeper to be sure. I really need to cut back on the food, two. my other two look like little ballons. Heck im feding for three and only two are eating, no wonder why!

this isnt my picture but he is about as skinny as this tinc.

He does look thin. I've just had a bad experience with removing one of my leucs, so I am a little hesitant to do it again. I guess more comes into play. Make sure the little guy has a small hut or something to hide in, in the critter keeper. I would also conver 3 of the sides with paper or something.
