Proving hets

Is it common for a het animal to not prove out on the first litter? Maybe bc of small litter size? Do you keep that animal for another breeding trial?

Short answer:

If you have the room... Yes. (at least I would)

As long as you are breeding him/her to a visual animal.
"Proving out" with a Poss. Het. to Poss. Het. breeding is "painful"

Good luck!
