i have a albino male 6 years old has been eating good lately so today i seen he was hungry and didnt have any small or med rats so i took a chance with a large rat and to my suprise he killed it. i was so happy that it was going to eat this nice size meal. he started to eat the rat and only had the head in its mouth and was struggling trying to eat it and than just decided to stop eating. im going to leave the rat with the snake for a few more hours but i hope it eats it. any thought?? thanks!

one of two things happened - you or someone / something spooked him and he stopped eating. or it was just to big a rodent and he could not, or would not finish.

i have some snakes that will take a large rat, but never get past the head and give up, while others of the exact same size, head dimensions, etc, will finish the job.

i'm not sure, but sometimes even though they seem like they can handle, some just say screw this i'm just not up for it. maybe a handful more medium feedings and some growth and he'll kick up to the next food item size.

i doubt he'll eat it if just left - maybe dip the head in heated water, wiggle it and try again? but the result might be the same...

that's what HE SAID....

....you KNEW he wouldn't couldn't and didn't want to...

but you did it anyways....

who's more discusted?...you or he...?...

....most balls do not stretch to eat large rats....

(large rats come in many sizes for different people..)...

I never fed a large rat to any ball....(even 8 pound balls)...

...good luck....sometimes doing this will pe-oss them off and they stop eating for weeks......sometimes...
