baby tangerine at petco?

alieliza Oct 05, 2003 02:38 PM

I saw a baby leo at petco the other day. It looks to have tangerine coloring, but is it that babies may look tangerine and lose that color as they get older? i think i remember hearing that. is it possible that petco would be selling one as a normal?
(i know, i know, petco is no good.)

Hi,

I've seen lots of tangerines come from the Petco here. We get our leopard shipments from Bill Brant, so tangerines are almost always included in the shipments I recieve. As far as the pricing goes I know with my Petco we have to sell the babies all under one sku number. Albinos, Tangerines and Patternless animals are all sold for $29.99... I have heard that this isn't so with other stores, but the one I work for has one sku number for all "baby" leopards. Adults are the only ones that we sell for a different price...

Hope this helped,
Richie

Both things are true. Many babies have tang color as babies and end up to be normals. However, it is also possible to get a leo that turns out to be a tangerine at Petco. The point is, you will have no idea what you are getting, it could be a normal it could be a tangerine, and you are buying from a place that is has a track record of selling sick and infected animals- with diseases ranging from worms and bacterial infections to coccidia and crypto. However, petcos vary, the animals you buy may or may not be sick. So it's a gamble on boh the health and the appearance.
