Hognose Genetics

I did a Punnett square for crossing two 100% double hets. I have only done a few of these before and it has been a long time, could you guys check my work?

ab aB Ab AB
ab aabb aabB aAbb aAbB
aB aabB aaBB aAbB aABB
Ab aAbb aAbB AAbb AAbB
AB aAbB aABB AAbB AABB

aabb 1 SNOW
aabB 2 ALBINO/HS
aAbb 2 ANERY/HS
aAbB 4 DHS
aaBB 1 ALBINO
aABB 2 H ALBINO
AAbb 1 ANERY
AAbB 2 H ANERY
AABB 1 NML
16
So out of 16 eggs statiscally speaking you get:
1 Snow
3 albinos (66% het snow)
3 anerys (66% het snow)
Any that come out looking normal would break down as
4/9 Double het
2/9 het anery
2/9 het albino
1/9 normal
so normals would be 66% het anery/ 66% het albino but only 44% double het snows and 11% normal.

That's cool that someone put that together...just wish they would correct the terminology.

Axanthics (not Anery), Amelanism (not Albino), etc.

It gets the job done, but it perpetuates incorrect terminology to the masses.

Thanks for the responses. Its great to have tools like that but I think its better to understand how the tool works than to just use it. Either way I was right and it is a good tool for checking my own work.

RG thanks for posting that article, it was an interesting read. I am a research scientist in a very different field so that was good clarifying information. After reading physics publications all day I do not really want to read journal publications all night too so that was an excellent synopsis of the current understanding.

All the best and again thank you for the responses.

I could not agree more!

This is pretty much for anything in life...at least for me.

I have a passion for physics too, so if you have any crazy ideas, feel free to bounce them off me!

Didn't Spider fail to prove out? And what about these supposedly dominant traits: "shadow, mocha, lemon hypo?" And "green hypo" that's a proven co-dom?
