Need help Identify if these are FIRES

ajfreptiles Jul 10, 2012 01:34 PM

I had a feeling this would happen, I have never produced fires before, and I bred a fire to a burgandy female....now the babies hatched and I have no idea if they are fires or normals...Please look and tell me what you think. Thanks Andy

I seem to have difficulty sorting through my Vanilla stuff sometimes, Thank goodness for head spots but when I make Fires they seem to stand out right out of the egg to me. If you look at them compared to Normals and you cant decide if they are different then most likely they are Normals. My Fires come out of the egg much lighter than others and they seem to have a great deal of nice blushing through out their pattern. Good luck in sorting things out. Now see, thats a really nicely blushed out male Fire you have and the babies should be easy to spot if you have them. Jay

>Well, I see what you mean about looking like a Yellow Belly..... that's a pretty snake and I would NOT just abandon that project. DO you see any similarities with their bellies? I bet you its genetic.......the banding and overall color is nice.

Also, breed that to a Yellow Belly.

I just made something cool that's hatching today out of a Dinker project......stick with it!

Other than Fires being brighter. They have 2 other characteristics. Most all fires have a very light spot on the head as well as a very clear belly. They will also get brighter with each shed.

they are not fires BUT the photos make it look as if that one has blue eyes, which seems really odd.

is it just the photo and the eyes are normal wild type?

ajfreptiles Jul 11, 2012 10:30 AM

The eyes look normal I think....I don't see blue so it must be the camera...Thanks for your comments.

Here is a pic of a Sulfur female and a normal....kinda lets you know what to look for. I know it can sometimes be difficult, but it is usually easier after their first shed. The head pattern is almost like an arrowhead, with the dot. And yes, the normal wanted to eat me!
