Some hatching, some laying!

a153fish Jul 10, 2012 04:57 PM

Do these look like snows? I bred a male Lavender het for Axanthic to what I believe to be an Anery snow female. So far all the heads poking look like this. I wasn't really expecting to see any snows at all?!?!

This girl was also laying her second clutch while the others pip.

You may be right Jeremy! That's what they should be, but I have hatched out lavenders before, and they looked more yellow. I guess time will tell. Thanks for your input.

After looking a bit closer at the pics I do see what looks like a bit of yellow on the sides. Here is a lavender from last year, but this one has quite a bit of Sulfur in it, so that is probably why it's so yellow.

Very cool Jorge!! I can't help with the genetics question because I suck, however they are beauties and congrats!! If you check on the clutch in the middle of the night you might be able to catch the little hood that is tagging all those eggs!! LOL

Very cool Jorge!

Yeah, I'm sure that sulfur gene made your other lavender look more yellow than these.

You're getting quite a few floridana morphs going at your place now...

That Doug Beard ghost has probably got to be my favorite one!...wow!

yeah man, the crisp white markings threw me off. These have to be regular Lavenders, just from the genetic standpoint. Even if the female, and males Anery/Axanthics were compatable, I should only get a few snows, so it makes perfect sense that they are all normal lavenders. They should be double hets for Anery, and Axanthic too.

Thanks John! I am pretty sure they are Lavenders, I was just expecting them to look a little more yellow. It's good to get other peoples opinions.

You know she never had that color before. She almost looks like she is going to shed? Weird!

Many snakes during this time of year have a dull look to them....
It may be because they are using up some vitamins and minerals by breeding and laying.....

I know Pyros and Knobs look terrible until they shed after they lay eggs.......So do my Splendida and Holbrooki.....The Mexicana not so much....

Funny cause I didn't notice it until I looked at the pictures right after I took them. But she shed just a week or so before. You may be right about the time of year, what her body is going thru.
