I used to have a Pueblan Milk that did this "back in the day" - lay yellow eggs. Last night this Honduran dropped a yellow clutch. They're good eggs - just yellow.

Interesting. They certainly appear good except for the "yellow". I wonder how many people would toss those away?
Looking forward to seeing them hatch.

Congrats Tim. Those are some long eggs!! Yeah, as I have stated before "they don't go in the drink until they stink". I have had some horrible looking eggs go onto hatch. Remember the clear eggs? I have some the previous year from that same female zonata that were rubbery looking and odd shaped, and thought for sure they were duds. Two of the four went full term, one died in the egg , but one did hatch and is one of the nicest zonata I own!!
Joe
I've had some yellow eggs that hatched before also Tim.
I'm with you Joe. I don't throw ANY egg away until it is without question going bad. It has to obviously smell or be starting to rot before I throw any egg away.
Not to offend anyone but I always find it funny when people ask "Did you candle them". I did that a few times many years ago but just see it as unnecessarily handling eggs. Weather I see any veins or not I'm sure not going to throw an egg away if it appears it might be good.

Good point Randy. On that clutch of hypo temporalis I just posted, only two showed viens when I candled them. Good thing I didn't pitch the other two that didn't show veins!!!
Dave
Definatly a good thing you didn't throw any of those hypos away. They are amazing!!!

yellow sausages! Nice snake too Tim!

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!
What's wrong with using CAUTION?!?!?!

Yeah, it's pretty strange how some can lay very beige/yellow fertile eggs. I had an OBX lay some pretty yellow one's and they got much whiter later on.

Yep Doug, you just never know. My MD w/c mole king laid her eggs a couple of weeks ago and upon first discovery I was like "oh man, first bad eggs from a w/c I have ever seen"!!! Due to the appearance. Of course they all are fertile (veins everywhere) but they sure did not look good at first. All yellow and without the fine lined texture we normally see with good ones.
Joe
That's right, Joe. Good eggs can sometimes come in various shades and textures. I have a clutch of corns here sired by that awesome aberrant found near Everglades National Park, and many of them have a very substantial amount of raised "dimples" on them that sort of resemble "golf balls" that are fertile as well...
I will NEVER forget those insane "see-through" zonata eggs as long as I live!..LOL!. Too freakin bad things went okay for so long only to fizzle-out at the very end..
