DO YOU GUYS USING CYPRESS BAKE IT BEFORE USE? I WAS THINKING ABOUT GIVING IT A TRY. DOES IT HAVE TO BE 100% CYPRESS? IS THERE CERTAIN KINDS TO AVOID. IM JUST NOT REAL FAMILIAR WITH IT. IVE BEEN USING ASPENFOR YEARS. THANKS BRIAN GALLEY

No, I don't bake my Cypress mulch. I smell it thoroughly before I buy it. If it has enough oils to bother the skin of an animal it will almost always have a softwood smell. If it just smells loamy/earthy/wet, then I call it good. I use the same mulch brand for both snakes and rodents, including their nests, with no problems at all. They eat it, they burrow in it, the sleep on it.

I DO let the bags dry out flat in my garage for a while before using them though. This is just because I don't like using the very wet mulch for in tubs or cages because it can cause my humidity to get too high.

I only use Kambark made by Kamlar Corp. It's double milled pure cyprus. Works great . I love it. Phone # is 252-443-2576. The only problem is that the minimum order is 80 bags .
