How do you house your BIG girls?

ShadyLady Jul 21, 2012 01:05 PM

Just wondering, what size containers/racks do you have your really big females in? All of mine seem to fit fine in a 16 x 23 box in my homemade rack except a couple of extra big girls that I have in large rubber maids, but they take up lots of space height-wise. Is there a standard size plastic box any of you would recommend. I could build a special rack for them.

Thanks

My poor snakes! They're being squished in! What is the depth of that really big box?

Thanks

I use lids on all my tubs and these have a domed lid that brings them up to maybe about 7 or 8 inches. Unfortunately that's still a little tight for a girl on 14 eggs but they adjust and just don't pile them as high.

I use CB 110 tubs, they are great for the larger females, i just recently built a a few racks for these tubs,7 high.I have one girl over 6000 grams and she fits ion there fine.

Who makes the CB 110 tubs? 7 in high wouldn't seem to give room to lay a big mound of eggs.

THanks

I actually make the rack 7 tubs high, any higher than that and it becomes difficult to pull the tubs from a higher level. Reptile Tubs carries them, Iris makes the tubs, they come with a split hinging lid which i do not use. My girls give me 12 to 16 egg clutches there is plenty of room.

depth doesn't really matter as much....I used Boaphile's and had some huge girls....high boxes waste MY space I think.....

I wish I had taken a picture of my one layer 13 egg clutch this year. Mom was actually able to cover them up so that at first I wasn't even sure she had laid and then when I realized no dome thought for sure would be all slugs but were good.

One of my big girls laid 14, but in a dome. Fortunately I was able to pull some off so I could get them in incubator.
