Hi, My first clutch of ball python eggs are coming up on hatching time (@86f) but I will be gone on day 56-59. My girlfriend will take care of them in the event they hatch while I am gone. Any advice to make this go smoother?

@86 they'll probably go at least 60 days!
Thank you, Cooking the ball pythons with some ackies so 86 was the happy medium for the two. Sounds like it will work out for the best this way.

I think you will go way past. I would bet at least 65 days. I have mine going at 88 and they are hatching at about 60 days.

Regardless of temps, IF they do hatch while you are out, it shouldn't be a problem depending on your hatching method. We had our eggs in a bin that separated the eggs from the wet substrate by a solid grate, so they came out of their eggs and just hung around the container until we could transfer them to a new one with paper towels in the bottom. If they have access to the substrate, then just move the pipping eggs over to wet paper towels then. Would your girlfriend be willing to do that while you are out?

They are in a XL SIMS. They should be fine in there then but, yes my girlfriend is fine with handling them if needed. Sounds like worst case I just won't be there to see what hatches. Thanks for the reply.

Send roses to your GF and have them delivered while you are away, that way she'll know how much you appreciate her help! Then when this happens again she will be excited about helping out
Good idea.
