Hypo-E Mex Mex Hatching

Jlassiter Jul 26, 2012 06:47 PM

Again this gene proves to be co dominant.
The father to this clutch is a Black phase and the mother is a Hypo-E......

This is definitely a Hypo-E......
I hope I get a female from this pairing to go with my male from last year.......

Those are awesome. For some reason, this reminds me of Rainer going on vacation as soon as a good point is made. hahahahah

No, but seriously, that is a very cool project you have there. You'll have to post more photos when they are out.

So a hypo-E Mex bred to any Mex will produce Hypo-E babies?

However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

>>So a hypo-E Mex bred to any Mex will produce Hypo-E babies?

Here's all I know to date.....

I bred a Black Phase Male that is not from the Hypo-E line to a Visual Hypoerythristic female two years in a row.

Both years a Hypoerythristic hatched......So far it acts codominant when using a female hypo-e and a non hypo-e male.

I need to breed the Hypo-E male to the Hypo-E female and to a normal female to see what emerges.....

Hopefully a Hypo-E x Hypo-E breeding will not produce a white snake like we've seen with other morphs of other snakes. Something with a more interesting color and/or pattern would be awesome. Good work John. Let's see more later when they all come out.

I agree Jonel.....

Eventually there will be a little pink snake hatch out of every kingsnake clutch that'll grow up to be white.....

Then how will we know what's what....lol

Thanks Jonel....
I will post some more photos soon....

Is the black phase the melanistic? The hypo-E is a cool moron too, is the melanistic recessive or codom?

No...Black Phase is similar to dark alterna....
They are line bred by Mother Nature in the wild.
A naturally occurring polymorphic trait.

The Black Phase gene acts just like a line bred trait.
When bred to other Black Phase they produce dark babies that turn black. When bred to light gray mex mex they produce inbetweeners.

Here is a black phase Male Mex Mex:

I hate that some times, try typing herps in. After you use it for awhile it's really hard to type on a normal computer.
