After the baby not hatching like it was supposed to, and claims of it looking bad, we decided to cut open the egg.
The answer to the failed hatching was obvious. The baby's midsection had curled around itself and fused together. It can't be uncurled from the way it looks in the photo. It head was also misshapen.
It was however, a beautiful little boy. 
he weighed 2 grams.
