snowflake eggs hatchiing

joecop Jul 27, 2012 08:43 PM

As you guys suspected, all the eggs are fine. They all startiing pipping last night and half are out today. I must say they are some fine examples of calvert county md kings!!! Barely any broken bands on most and a few with all crossbars in tact the whole way down. I might even have to keep a pair of these babies.

Thanks Ross. Yeah, with both the parents being stellar, they were bound to be nice ones!!

Did you find the parents?
-----

joecop Jul 28, 2012 09:53 AM

Ross, yes I caught both parents at the same spot, two years apart. I also caught both of my St. Mary's county parents, as well as a large part of my collections founding stock. I like knowing where they come from like many on here.

That's great. They really mean something when you find them your self.

That's great Joe! Excellent closeup photo showing the egg texture there too.

Can't wait to see what they look like when they're all out!

Thanks Doug. They are just very clean Ek's. Really interesting though how they look so different from my St. Mary's county clutch, just an hours drive away from where these Calverts come from.

Yeah, it's interesting how diverse their phenotypes can be.

Awesome Joe! Please post pics of the parents, and the babies when they finally come out.

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

No problem Jorge. When they shed I will snap some pics of both locales. I actually gave the St mary's adults away. I regret giving the male away as he was the nicest MD ek I have seen to date. Sometimes we all do stuff we regret!! LOL..Funny thing is last year the St marys hatchlings were not all that impressive with lots of broken bands, save a few choice ones. This year they ALL are nice and took after dad!!! Well, at least I can hold back a pair of the babies and have awesome stock.

Congratulations Joe!

Now the fun of getting hatchling MD kings to feed begins!

Best of luck.

Paul

joecop Jul 28, 2012 04:26 PM

LOL Yeah Paul you know all too well how they can be. I already have several of the st mary's feeding, but I cheated and gave them what they wanted!!!

"but I cheated and gave them what they wanted!!!"

You gave them Ringnecks?..
