What kind of snake should I get?

ccole93 Jul 29, 2012 03:14 PM

I know everyone posts this question, but I'm seriously torn!

I own a four year old male ball python and I purchased a baby female Brazilian rainbow boa a few months ago. She's beautiful and tamed quite nicely. I just purchased a baby male Western hognose snake and now I'm wondering what to get next.

I briefly owned corn snakes and they weren't really my cup of tea. I don't care too much for strictly arboreal snakes and I don't want anything that will cost more than $200. I was considering a regular boa because I love big snakes. Any thoughts? I've also considered kenyan sand boas and rosy boas, but the latter is sort of hard to find. When I do find them, they're expensive. I don't care if it's an adult or baby; I'm not breeding.

If you're interested in getting a boa, check out the Argentine boas and Dumerils boas. Both are AWESOME snakes and the Argentines arent as common as the BCIs or BCCs... so you can have something that is a little more unique. Both usually go for 100 - 150 bucks each.

I have a pair of both species and really enjoy keeping them.

I like where your head is going.. regular columbian boas make great pets and generally range from 6-9' depending on males or females. They are normally tame and very handleable. Ive owned a ton of them and would highly recommend one. Good luck in your decision.
