one clutch five phenotypes (PICS)

alstotton Aug 04, 2012 10:50 AM

One of my longest term projects of annectens total outcrossing came to fruition this year, The aim was to create snows from brand new bloodlines inc. my hi red albino genetics.

6 years in the making!!
Results:
1.1 snow
3.1 albino hets

Snow.

Results are quite remarkable, especially within the albino het snow siblings.
Its time for me to start defining all these seperate phenos away from the easy route e.g. opting for the over used term 'Applegate'.

For me personally this description is now all but obsolete and I now use the term applegate influence where neccs and more in reference to a certain phenotype.

I'd love to hear you guys thoughts on the as I seriously consider the members of this board among my peers.

Yellow Albino het Snow, nice yellow overall and the distinct Yellow head

Double albino het snow, some hi red influence pheno wise.

This one is ringer for the double albino I hatched a few seasons back and she has a nice lavender hue now mature.

For me this one has more of the purple blotch influence than its siblings, so i'll stick with PB on this one

The fourth and final pheno of the four albinos, to me this bears the closest likeness to the applegate pheno, but of course its not 100% an applegate, genetically its close to 25% aplegate.

They all look nice mate.
I don't know enough about annectens to give you advice but I gave you already a name for your snow. The "alpine snow".
So let others name your albino's.

Thanks John,

I'm not one to be shouting from the rooftops about hatching something new and maybe its a Brit trait!

This is why I made the post on here before anywhere else to judge opinions.

Hi Al

Great looking animals. I really like the Snow.

I just think there is a natural color variances in most Pits, even in clutch mates. Morphs or non-morphs. Some are more yellow and some go darker oranges and red. Brown and tan, and so on.

Congrats Al

Hi Jason,

With respect I'm a little confused by your reply.

If I'm understanding you correctly here, what your saying is all pits fall into a natural colour variant group, morph or non morph regardless then I have become real confused.

Following this rule of thumb then surely this means for example, things like your dyergate annectens, orange and blonde deserticola, yellow classic sayi, whitesides etc. are all just really natural variations. This being the case all the morph names given are a misnomer.

As for giving morphs names like Dyer, Betchel , Applegate, and also names like Dyergate, Green albino etc. also come into question now as they should just be called albinos period.

Cheers Lucas,

I'm having a pretty nice season with annectens thus far and as always I aim for Quality over Quantity.

Cheers Robyn,

Long time no speak, hope your well bro.

The genetics of those stretch way back, in fact I saw you @ NRBE in 99 when I got some of the ingredients

Albino Purple Blotch (Brian Barcykz 1997)
Hypo (Michel Klumpers 1998/1999)
Snow (Robert Cox NRBE 1999)
My Hi-Red albino (line bred genetics)
